New loom?

Postby BRUC3 » Sun Oct 02, 2011 4:39 pm

Hey, after noticing the other day I dont have any rear lights, I investigated the loom a bit more since I bought the Geep...

Its a right mess, as someone has once fitted a cheapo alarm and over the years things have been added, removed etc...

Im thinking about putting a new loom in, and was wondering how do i find out about what gauge wire I need and how much is it likely to cost...?

Would it be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand escort loom and modify that, I should I just make a complete new one?

Ay help would be great as ive never done any wiring before!!

Building a new loom from scratch is mega mega money... I priced mine up for the freestyle to make one... tooo much!

I went to premier wiring in the end and got it made :-)

hi bruc

l think l would look round for an escort or simalar loom and mod that, cant be much different, in fact a lot of older cars would have a suitable loom such as early classic range rover etc but the escort would have the right plugs on for teh instruments etc

cheers Andy

After asking the same question on pistonheads, a couple of the members suggested using a loom for a Caterham 7...

This means I can get one with the correct insturment fittings, and I dont have to use a loom thats say 30 years old from an Escort!

I phones Premier looms a few weeks back, and he said to email them in a couple of months as their moving to Spain, but can still make looms... only thing that puts me off this is the phone bill if something goes wrong!!!
