Ordered some aluminium mesh to fill in the side triangles on the frame the area in green is required for the IVA, but we noticed on track we were getting stones/pebbles up through the blue area, not so much on track as they are cleaned by the other cars, but once we were in the pits or turning around, so I suspect on the road it will be as bad.

So I bought some from ebay, 40" long, this is how it turned up

Trimming up getting ready for the big day, added an extra hinge in the of the bonnet directly under where the 'interior' mirror is fixed to try to stop vibration in use.IMG_20220331_170156_114.jpegIMG_20220331_170203_915.jpegIMG_20220331_170217_998.jpegIMG_20220331_170234_885.jpegIMG_20220331_170241_866.jpegIMG_20220331_170248_781.jpegIMG_20220331_170326_479.jpeg

The Exocet has these horrible stand up shock mounts on the rear,

IMG_20220402_122656_405.jpeg

So today's project was to make some covers to please the IVA man, only problem is I'm not sure they're any good & I've not swapped one problem just for another

One guy took his in uncovered & the inspector was of the opinion that if somebody got in there & cut themselves they had more to worry about, but most have had to cover them in one shape or form. Ignore the protruding bolts that have nut covers on now.

More trimming today, playing what do we think the tester can fail it on,

Started with the headlight bracket

IMG_20220403_160750_980.jpg

Then onto these upright

IMG_20220403_150939_204.jpg

Then around the mirror brackets, also all along the front of the wiring tray, did the bottom of the bonnet, not that it really needs if but it tidied it all up.

Now the burning question which I know we can't answer until the day, according to the book of IVA it is indeterminable whether lower edge of the wring tray (aluminium that you can see) has to be a 19mm curve or not, some tester are saying no as the tube above it is the testable area, others are saying it has to be tested.

Yes you guessed it more trimming up for the tester, must admit when we were on track the other week we were getting small pebbles being flicked up by the front wheels,

TBH Im not sure how much more I can do, need to check the handbrake, there's also a handbrake cable hanging down, which although not a fail I don't like, then I have some new wheels studs & nuts arriving, just to make them all the same & then I think I'm done.

Long day yesterday, up at 6am to get there for 8am, bit of a hassle whilst there as VOSA have closed down Sheffield test centre so 4 vehicles had come from Doncaster to Nottingham to have their MOT's so were using the lane my tester needed, what a complete joke.

Anyway the good news is I came away with a PASS!!! had an issue with a purge valve, for whatever reason the pipe decided to snap which was screwing up the fuelling, managed to find the broken pipe, sealed one end with a tie warp & the other with a self-tapping screw I found in the Shogun. So happy days, need to get it off the trailer this weekend & get it advertised.

Having a nightmare with the DVLA, sne them the forms & postal order on the 9th May, received 10th May, they rang 19th to say I'd sent wrong amount & needed to send more which I did on the 19th, received on the 20th, addressed directly to one of their agents as advised with the case number on both the envelope & PO. Then silence, so rang on Monday to be told the agent wasn't in on Monday & to ring back Tuesday, rang Tuesday to be told agent doesn't work Tuesdays ARRRRRGH. So politely expressed my dissatisfaction with the process, the person I spoke to said they were still awaiting for payment but would get a supervisor to ring me, which they did around 3pm, but the quality of the call was ridiculous. I think they were using handsfree on a PC it was atrocious my hearing is not good but it was almost impossible to work out what they were saying. But the gist was although they hadn't received the funds don't worry & wait a few more days WTF!

Anyway I didn't wait & called back today, amazingly the funds have been found, maybe they opened the envelope that's been sat on somebody's desk since the 20th, they claim it had been sent to the wrong department, tosh. Anyway the upshot is hopefully now I will get my documents, the only bug now is because of the BH it's going to be next week, unless I can get them to email me the V948 today to get them made up.

In my usual impatient way I emailed the both the lady who was dealing with my query & the lady who dealt with registering Melvin last year, I got an email back from the latter saying she was sorry but the funds are still not allocated to the account another WTF moment, she asked who I'd spoken to. I then replied with all the information & a couple of hours later got an apology & advised that the funds were indeed on the account & the registration would be completed. I thought I'd push my luck & try for the V948 & amazingly it was sent over, so off to town to get plates made.
