" Whereas you & my son want off road capability, I'm not sure that you are going to get that from any 'standard' suspension fitted to a 'standard' car, hence why @ChaosMS has built all his own suspension. I suppose it depends on how rough is the question, I would have thought most stuff would just bend if it was too rough."

my version of offroad for this is an undulating grass field I wont be trying to cross any ditches or climb any mountains I have 4 wheel drives for that
I will be quite happy with 4" of wheel travel, I will try to get some vid of my track later in the week

That looks soooo much fun, I wish I had my own track or lived closer to you.
I think I have seen some videos of you driving around that track before in a car and was that you in a Kinroad 650 buggy with a Micra engine?

I saw this the other day, Corvette LS engine in, very nice build. Goes against the 7 ethos though of adding weight... But does look brutal.

that's nice and I wouldent think that engine is much heavier than the old ford crossflow or pinto engine

yes that was me in the kinroad buggy with the micra engine, I still have it but its just a bit to small for me I always feel cramped in it. I keep it because its road registered and who knows one day it might morph into something 6" wider and 6" longer would be perfect then

where abouts do you live ?

from 8 years ago trees look so little lol, will try to get a vid this week running the same track will be interesting to see the difference

I'm on the east coast in Essex.

I remember seeing your buggy years ago on the buggy news website which was mainly for Chinese buggies which I had one at the time. It was good that Micra engine dropped in there nicely and definitely worth keeping, better than the Joyner 650's.

Think we have come full circle back to the Snakebite MGF/TF buggy you could replace the spheres with coilovers wouldn't go for TF as the suspension is likely to be too hard.

I would quite like to try air shocks and play around with pressures

not much too report really I dug out my old fugitive bonnet just for a size reference and I found a pair of pug 206 ( I think ) head lights which curve up nicely and hide the suspension towers, will have a go at the seat base later today then I can fit the seats which will set the front bulkhead position then i can think about bending some tube

I test fitted the brake pedal and servo it all packages nicely but it wants to occupy the same piece of real estate as the steering column :-\

then i remembered the mk 4 escort it had the brake servo on the opposite side of the car to the pedal that would free up the space

will have to investigate that

Quite a few cars do that including the MGF/TF

anyway l looked at an escort one today unimpressed it looks a bit weedy so ordered some bronze bushes, some 1" bar and some 1.25" bore seamless tube will make my own
