GY6 gearbox with reverse

Hi all,

I've got a problem with a GY6 engine which I got in an old two seater buggy. The buggy has reverse also. It wasn't driving properly so I stripped the engine out and opened up the gearbox and found one large gear missing three teeth and the gear it meshes with is quite mangled. Ok easy I thought, count the teeth pop on fleabay and buy some new gears, gy6 is a popular engine. But I cannot find replacement gears anywhere. I can find replacements for the big gear (excuse my ignorance of what the gears are properly called) but with the wrong amount of teeth and cannot find the smaller gear anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get these or recommend what else I can do, I've seen complete gear sets but they don't look like they are the same as the gear sets in my gy6. The big gear has 44 teeth and 34 splines and the small one has 11 teeth and 6 splines on the shaft its part of. Cheers, pulling my hair out trying to work out how to fix this thing, its been a non runner now since last summer and I want to get it fixed to get out with my son who has own little buggy.

Welcome to the forum but not sure if we can be of any help, have you tried speaking to the Fleecebay seller to see if the complete sets will fit into your casing?

I doubt they'd have a clue and wouldn't trust them. But I cannot believe in this modern day internet that I can't find one picture of a complete engine or single gears that looks anything like my engine. It's stamped 157QMJ but all the ones I can find online are chain drive but my two rear half shafts go directly into my gearbox. I can't be the only person on the planet with one of these? The buggy is fairly generic it doesnt have any labels or names and is a few years old but I'm amazed I can't even find a photo of an engine/gearbox the same. Anyone out there seen what I have?
