Re: Self built Buggy test!

I imported a Chinese buggy and it didn't need an IVA test, it came with a certificate of conformity, just had to register it and it was an easy road legal buggy with no MOT needed for 3 years. Sold it on before that as it would have needed a lot of work to get it through an MOT, no fog light or swit...

Re: Melvin the Mev Mevster Discussion Thread

Alan, the IVA manual states (if I remember) that any material used around the fuel tank but be resistant to fuel. I found this synthetic rubber called Viton, I made a seal around the outside of the tank firewall and printed off the data sheet to stick under their noses should they query it. https://...

Re: The Dumfries Death Trap!

I got mine stamped on an ally plate (Mini Mail do this) and then JB welded it to the chassis. IVA manual says it has to be welded with a continuous bead, a continuous bead of JB weld... and then a coat of hammerite. https://www.minimail.co.uk/chassis-vin-plates/ They all offer this service. :) http:...

Re: Access to a lathe

Alan, my kit came with some rubbish mild steel crush tubes, I could see these going rusty and binding fairly quickly. I had some made in stainless, the machine shops usually advertise on ebay. Have a chat to Vic, if you can't see the size you want drop him a line. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/23198876...

Re: Any Road legal freestyle buggies for sale ?

Welcome to the world of kitcars, at least you have people to ask about things, I'm trying to put a car together with no build manual lol Alan the Zero has no build manual either unlike Caterham hence there are an awful lot of 7s out there in bad condition. I was watching a car sos where the chassis...

Re: Self built Buggy test!

Hi Rob Would be great to see some pics of what you have built. We pretty much all have road legal buggies so everywhere is good to go, all taxed and insured. Unless you can find some private land with land owners permission plod will most likely take your pride and joy away and crush it so be carefu...

Re: ChaosMotorSport MKII Buggy Engine Swap Discussion Thread

Are the headlights E marked? IVA compliant? I have some Dominator ones which have caused problems for some people at some test centres, but not others It's not the e mark you need to worry about. Read the bit in the IVA manual about zennon projectors and LED headlights being self leveling and they ...

Re: ChaosMotorSport MKII Buggy Engine Swap Discussion Thread

Did you connect the indicators in as the DRL halo goes off and the orange hallo flashes. I haven't connected mine up yet but I might do. Have to run another wire in on each side. There is a fair chunk of alloy heat sink and gets pretty hot, I get a little condensation on the inside of the lens, prob...

Re: ChaosMotorSport MKII Buggy Engine Swap Discussion Thread

Hi Rich, looking good as always. I see you got some of those LED head lights the same as mine. They are a really good upgrade. Also I like the way you have connected the fuel pump to the filter, that looks really neat. :) :)
