Thinnest padded seats are the binbag+urathane foam ones racers use. Very confortable (exact fit) but a not pretty. Also very cheap

This site tells you how:

Most people don't bother with the seat base he uses.

The width is limited a bit by the use of the Mini driveshaft components at the back, and it would look a little strange at the front if the wheels didn't line up.

One thing to bear in mind if you are only thinking about widening the cage in the middle is the sloping sides that go in to the front allow for the tie bars for the front wheels and also the correct spaceing for the wheels and wheel arches to be on full lock without rubbing.

you would probably be better off building from scratch than cutting it up and re welding it, what would you do about the front bulkheads?

Hi,

One of the Taunton buggys has been widened, with stepped sides to keep the front geometery the same.Works quite well, and looks ok too.

Have you thought about using Lotus Elise seats?

Have a look at the first post on my not progressing build thread.

Buzzin' Hornet

I got mine looking like this already by the previous owner so I can't say how easy it was etc.
