There is nothing we like more than splashing about in the mud.... Once again welcome to the muddy buggies website, this site is dedicated mainly to the Freestyle kit car, yes that picture above is my freestyle going through a puddle.
The main point of the muddy buggies website is a place for like minded people to post their views and maybe just maybe we all might learn something.
The ABS Freestyle is based on a Mini and yes its rear wheel drive. My buggy is pictured below.
The Photo above was taken in Dover docks in 2004 we were on our way to Salou in spain for the International Mini Meet (IMM).
The orange and blue is mine... it has a 1330cc mg metro engine and weight only 522kg's so as you can imagine its pretty quick. The car behind however is a 1400cc mg metro Turbo lump and boy that is fast... in fact i think a little too fast...(NAH!!!)
I decided to get a freestyle when i had written off two minis, and was left with a fair few spares, and after reading a few reviews in Kit car mags i decided to go check them out and I was impressed.
I spent a day in somerset playing around in the mud with Dave Smart (the owner of Funbuggies) and his buddy Jerry. I have never been so cold, but this did not matter, i was smiling the whole time. A few months later I had my buggy, I spent the next few years at shows up and down the UK, the photo below is of Jerry's car at the newark Kit car show.
The ABS Freestyle is a fun car to drive and own, and when people see you in the street they wave and point, it feels like being in a goldfish bowl. I have driven all over the UK and europe and I have always had a good reception.
I have always had a big part in the hot hatch scene, I have had my fast fords and my modified mini's and so when I decided I was getting my buggy I had to ensure I continued with the street racer theme. So my buggy has all the neons you could dream of all the graphics on the roof box a twin exhaust and the performance to make any XR3i get annoyed.
I often take my buggy to the MK Cruise and this is very funny as the police and love it, the girls love it and the guys hate it... cos when i am at the show they are looking at my car...lol

The shows that we attend are always a great laugh, we arrive on the saturday morning and we set our tents up and then we start to plan the quickest route to the bar, and then start the day with a well earned pint. Throughout saturday we tend to walk many miles and we get the nickname "The Freestyle Formation Drinking Team"!!
When you own a car like this you don't just go to parties you are the party.
I hope you find this site of use whether it be knowledge or enjoyment. If you would like to contribute anything photos, videos in fact anything then just email me.
