Another cooling question

Hello Chaps,

My buggy runs fine at about 70mph but when I do more near 100mph for long periods of time (on private land) it cooks its self!!

I used to have a matrix in it but that broke and to be honest I struggled to find anywhere to put it let alone finding ways of fixing it.

I was thinking maybe have a long hose that goes to the front of the buggy and back again.... would this help?? I think it might due to the fact that it increases the water capacity.

Also would the standard mini water pump be able to pump it ok? I actually have a high spec water pump but if the standard one can do it then I am happy.

Any suggestions or ideas on fixing the matrix or extra cooling system would be handy

Cheers

Hiya Danny,

Lee had the same problem with the 1275cc, we put a four core rad on, plus a heater matrix, at the front under the nose cone, plus a sucky fan from a mg midgit sorry for spelling. Althrough u need to make sure u protect the rad from crap blowing into it with having a sucky fan especially when off-roading.

Plus he did have a post on the other forum, but we don't know where it went.

Hope this helps.

mine is fine with standard rad but a sucky fan, but I have put a heater matrix from a polish mini bus in the back with an electric fan on it that kicks in when the engine space gets to 70 using a hot water thermostat that you would normaly find in an airing cupboard.

One thing with the sucky fan, is does suck in loads of dandilion seads, grass cuttings and other light stuff even if you don't go off road so I am going to put a fine mesh grill arround the rad itself after I take the air compressor to it and blow it all out.
