Hi everyone after some help. I'm just about to remove the engine from my recently purchased mini freestyle. Has anyone found the best way to remove, is it engine and subframe out or I was thinking of cutting the rear brace bar out. Then making 2 double bolted ends to place back in, any thought or help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Both methods have been used, I personally went for the unbolt & support the front of the subframe, then lift & walk chassis forward, can be done on your own but best with 2 people.
But it can't be done unless you start a build thread to keep us all up to date, it's a bit quiet around here so new blood & pictures will be welcome.

In the end I went for the cut the top bar and out through the top. I made up a support gantry frame on the roof so I could winch up and slide back on that.
Engine is now having a full make over as was hard to start, compression was down to about 45psi on 3 cylinders. I think it had been sat with water in for some time. So rebore new pistons crank regrind, new cam bearings, as gearbox was in a sorry state and had been running on iys own swarf for a while I think. Will get new cam oil pump and other bits at the same time. Its a MG metro engine so hopefully will be quite sweet when finished.

I think Danny has had a few ciders & thought the image through your cylinder head was the bar you'd cut out.
A few people have cut that out & not replaced it, it was mainly there to get the chassis square when welding up & slightly safer when handling afterwards. Others have made it bolt in/out to make engine removal easier as you have found.
