Freestyle wiring images

Hi all

Had anyone got any images of how the wiring has been done in the engine bay, rear lights etc getting the wiring clipped and routed just to give myself an idea of how to go about it before I start.

I have seen with IVA that everything has to be clipped but does that mean that you can't use cable ties at all as it means there will be a lot of holes and rivets and clips in loads of places to get the wiring where I want and out the way of the exhaust, suspension etc.

What are people's experience with this and what can I do to keep the holes to a minimum?

I think the cabin and front end are easy enough routing wise but it's just getting everything from the engine bay to be neat and safe to the fuse box once I decide where I want it to go.

I believe it's more it cant chaff on any moving part, or vibration, nothing wrong with cable ties as long as they are secure, bearing in mind it's 16 years since I did a test with a Freestyle, I think I ran the rear lights across the back of the bumper then brought them down under the drainpipe covering the sides to get up to the dash.

Only pictures of the wiring are ones you wouldn't want to see 😂 let alone take to IVA
 
That's the sort of thing I was planning on doing to be honest, just put clips in where I can easily get to and then use cable ties where it's more difficult.

I was going to route to one side then put either a fuse box in or put conduit in and route it to the front and put a fuse box in there

As long as I'm not a million miles off from my ideas then I will give it a go!

Everything in conduit and cable tie the fu*k out of it, it's a buggy doesn't have to be pretty it will be covered in mud on day 1 😁

Great thanks that gives me an idea of where to go with it.

Just want it as neat as I can get it

I have got sleeving and conduit so I will just use that to give it protection and keep it all together and route it best I can.

If you are running wires front to back add a few extra you never know what you have either forgotten or may need/want to add at a later date.
 
Good point, a few extra cores really helps. Another thing to consider is mounting the battery at the rear with the engine. There is naff all point to running 2 metres of 35mm2 unfused conductor to the front as that just so happens to be where the designer thought it would be a good idea idea to mount the battery tray. It's pretty dangerous really as it runs through the cabin.

Chop out the battery tray and mount the rad there. I never had an issue with cooling but the mini was designed to have the rad in the wing with good airflow, the Freestyle has it at the rear with poor airflow. 😁
 
I will definately add a few more wires as I'm going on add a few lights etc after so I will pre wire that in on extras and put a few more in at the same time to save having to add any in later.

I will have a look at the battery I haven't got to that yet I was going to do that at the same time as starting the wiring.
