Sorry missed this post, on your brackets although they look like 3-4mm they will still bend over time, what I have always done in the past is weld another plate at 90 degrees along the back of that plate which makes it almost impossible to bend then, unfortunately as I now have MGF at the rear I can't show you an image

Thanks Phaeton, today I have cut and welded stiffening plates, as you described, to the underside of the bracket, looks a lot stronger.
