Suck or Blow Classic Mini Engine.

Now that's a question, on the standard classic mini me thinks the air comes in through the front grill and gets blown out by the fan through the grill in the wheel arch.
A long time ago I got from Danny what he calls a "Sucky Sucky Fan"I am going to fit an electric fan on the out side of the rad, do I suck or do I blow.

The Midget fan works if you are just replacing the existing Mini fan on the water pump pulley as it sucks the air through the radiator & onto the engine.

So depending on what fan you have on the water pump will depend on what fan you fit on the outside of the radiator if you're going to run both fans, as you want them to work together & not against each other.

I think we need to know a little but more about your plan before we fully commit,

The outcome is to cool the engine as much as possible (classic mini block board out to 1460 hot cam DCOE 45) this engine came with the buggy apparently built by Nick Stag I have never heard of him myself.
Was going to use Danny's sucky sucky fan on the water pump and on the outside of the rad the electric fan set to blow through the rad.
Does this sound about right? maybe a heater matrix in the system as well, all and any advise will be gratefully received.

Keeping the engine cool is always an interesting topic, I tried multiple things & in the end gave up & did the most sensible thing & moved the radiator to the front where it really needs to be.

But things to try, Midget pull fan on the water pump, electric fan pushing on the outside (either manual or automatic), a scoop which comes around the frame, there is a dead air void just in front of the radiator. Adding a heater matrix which can either be used as a heater up the front to blow on the feet, or to mount at the back in the airflow with or without a fan.

One of the big issues is the mechanical water pump driven fan, when you need the water circulating the most is when you are at the slowest rev, so an another idea is to add an electrical water pump either a supplement or replacement.

But depending on what your intended use is, if you are not going off road, then undercar water pipes & front mounted radiator to my mind is the only way to keep a tuned engine cool.

4th gear also gets rather warm due to the lower revs.

I have never had the cooling issues seen, I fitted a really decent alloy rad and not the standard steel version.

Best bit of advice I has was to add a vented container so when the fluid in the system expands it is collected and when cools it enters back in. Got one from a quad bike.
