Coolant Flow direction?

Can anyone clarify, the flow (when thermostat is open) comes out of the top hose to the rad and returns to the water pump?

Yep you're correct, only deviation would be if there was a heater take-off which would come from either below the thermostat or from pot 4 through manifold (maybe) to bottom return pipe. Either way flow through radiator should be from top to bottom.
