Looking good, I like what you have done with the engine cover.

You will need something infront of the rad, I bought some mesh, put edging arround it and cable tied it to the frame, this was fine for the SVA man. I also did the same on the fuel tank side for symetry but may not have needed it.

My SVA man wanted more protection on the dampener brakets on the frame at the back I used some platic pipe whihc I put rubber trim on the end and clipped over it.

Other things I had to do for SVA compliance.... I think your rear bumper should mean you are ok with the subframe ones....

Lock nuts on rear track rod ends

Not sure what your dash looks likem but I had my buttons on the passenger side and needed to get them radiused (sanded down at the edges) to pass SVA.

What stearing wheel are you using, I had to get one with a colapsable bos, SVA man was adement thaat the book says that the wheel itself must have some protective feature, and not just the column..... This was one of the first things he pointed out, so I decided not to argue as I didn't want him to become vindictive!!!

Rubber edging on ends of plastic pipe along tops of sides.

Have you got any support brackedt for your exhaust?

When is your SVA test?

thanks quite please myself, didn't get symmetry just right but it will do for now, might have another go after SVA.

Found a old side off a server case which is rigid but full of holes going to cut that up & make a couple of brackets to hold it in place with rubber round the edge of course.

Sorry don't understand that one, might be me being tired after a 16 hour day, tried to look at http://www.esdebe.co.uk/buggy/build_images/index.html but none of the images are showing up

Don't think I would be able to they are as far in as possible & that might not be far enough once I get it tracked.

All I have for the dash is the Acewll, & 3 switchs in the Mini pod, brake test, rear fog & light switch, these are mounted on the crossmember but close to coloumn, the hazard switch I have put it into the coloumn where the wiper switch should go.

It's a Mountney, I bought a Mountney collaspable boss, but the wheel doesn't fit so thinking of buying a cheap wheel just for the test.

Do you mean just at the ends or along the full length?

Yep, it's got a bracket on the engine just as it comes out under the subframe & another undreneath at the chrome end

When is your SVA test?
Not sure waiting for them to contact me, probably something like 3rd week in March

Web site (www.esdebe.co.uk/buggy) fixed, I changed server but didn't update the links.....

There is a picy of my covers for the dampner brakets and the rad / fuel tank covers. at:-

http://www.esdebe.co.uk/buggy/diary/KIT ... 3a63eb.jpg

If you can't put lock nuts on, buy some covers for covering them from Tiffosi the SVA man won't remove to check.... I bought some slim nuts from Trident racing at Silverstone for mine as I had no space either..... I did have covers on mine for the SVA, but forgot to cable tie them in place and on the drive there the cover sliped and revealed the lack of nuts... If it hadn't been for that I wouldn't have needed the nuts.....

My steering wheel was a hucicane one from PL minis. I have a Center cover for a Mountney wheel from Merlin, but never needed it. if you want to buy / borrow it for the SVA let me know as they will look for sufficient padding in the middle of the the wheel too.

Ruber edging just on the ends (the visible bit)

Good Luck with the test.

Just reread this, do you mean when you 1st took it you had no nuts on at all? I have the standard ones on.

When I first took it I had no lock nuts on tht tie-rod ends as I couldn't see how they could move.. But the SVA man wanted some... I too was short of thread between teh end of the tierod end and the stub used to lock the wheels, but manged to get some slim nuts to fit.

I had bought some tirod end nut covers anyway, but I forgot to use cable ties to hold them in plave so mr SVA could see there was no nuts, if it hadn't been for that I would have had one less thing to fix...

Agreed, but we can't argue with him can we. I have the nuts on & don't intend to cover them up as I beleive they are not testable as they are below floor level.
