hi how can i find out the age of the engine from the engine number 99hbi1
05464 for sva and registrasion regaurding emisions

I'd say it is actualy a 99H81 not a 99HBI and if this is the case,

you have a
998 A+ block with centre locating tang in main cap, 1985 onwards Flat top piston with circlip wrist pin retention.

If you don't have the V5 you will need to get a letter form Motor Heritage confirming the age of the engine.

It depends on exactly when your engine is from, unless it has changed now, as Motor Heritage did not have records for all mini engines.

When I rang up about mine, code told me it was a 1989, they advised me that they did not have records this late on.

They were hoping to purchase them from their current owners, Nanjing I think.

TBH the easiest way is to obtain a V5C of a Mini or Metro which is pre-cat & transfer your engine number into it via the DVLA. This will be used by VOSA for the SVA & DVLA for registration, the legalities I will not explain.

thanks just posted v5 off to dvla from s reg mini hopefully this will do the job for sva and registration then i can book sva test
