Fuel tank question

Not sure Dave, I can't as I've changed jobs, well that's not strictly true I could but it would be a 70 mile round trip. But I'm meeting one of the lads I used to work with on the 8th December he lives quite close to where they are. He might be able to pick a couple up for you if that's not too late.

Ah, 70 miles is a touch far.. :)

But no, don't worry about it, I've seen a couple of eBay for under £20 delivered so I'll probably buy one of them. I've had a few nights of frenzied work on the buggy so I want to get as much done as possible before I lose momentum and don't touch it for another 6 months....

Cheers for the offer though, much appreciated!

Oh, while on the subject, how easy are they to convert? Is it just a case of cutting the filler neck off the mini tank and welding it to the top of the extinguisher and drilling a hole at the bottom and welding in a pipe for the fuel out? and what about the sender?

No seriously they are quite easy, I didn't bother with the Mini petrol tank, I went to the scrapyard & got a couple of metal filler necks & caps. One was from a Rover 600 I think & the other a Nissan something or other. Have to be metal of course, lots of plastic ones so it took a bit of searching. Then just cleaned them up, cleaned the top of he extinguisher & welded them together. For the botom i just drilled a hole on the first I pushed a pipe about 1/2" in & welded it. The second I welded a brake connector a female to female to make it easier to connect the pipes etc.

Have you contacted any local fire prevention places that do extinguishers as the ones I was gettin were the ones that had been withdrawn from use & were scrap. Last two I got he gave me free, there were about 50 & he said I could have the lot if I'd have wanted. Mine a 9 litres water ones.

Cheers Alan, that's an idea.

Just emailed the local fire station, they might have something or at least be able to put me in touch with someone who does. Would be nice to have a couple for free to practice on or to make twin tanks.

I've had a mad idea.....that it might be possible to make a 'double-skinned bonnet/fuel tank' thingy? Maybe its the fact Italy just gubbed us at Hampden,or theres a kit car show going on and I'm stuck here, but either way,I'm scooping the shan-deez and awaiting the results?...what results i hear u ask?...im no bothered, but as long as its not another eye-tal gubbin,im no bothered. Oh,and they can ram their pizza's up their asses.....**censored**

They are a tad small, but maybe I can link them up as twin tanks.

How much do you want for them? I can send a courier to pick them up if you can put them in a box for me and let me know the size of the box etc

Weight of parcel is approx 8kg and dimensions are: 16" high, 15" wide by 11" deep. As PM messaging is disabled and your e-mail is not on the member list if you want to e-mail me a contact number i can ring you with a collection address or my phone number if you still want them.
