Sorry to have to report that Mike Warr (aka "Jimmy the Frame") rolled his well known Freestyle C158 CTR last weekend, whilst taking part in Minehead Motor Club's "Beech Trees Trial", fortunately without injury to himself, or my young son, Ashley who was passengering him at the time...
Whilst leading the event overall, they had ascended the fearsome "Lime Kiln" section, which is probably between 1 in 2 and 1 in 1 gradient at the very top, when a driveshaft broke and it ran away backwards, hitting a bank on the way down, and overturning at the bottom. Although somewhat shaken, Mike completed the event behind the wheel of Gareth Andrews "Wideboy" Freestyle, although dropping well down the order...
Buggy stood up to the considerable impact very well, although the top bars have crushed down, the headlamps were flattened, and there is some minor panel damage. Hopefully we can jack the bars up again, as we've already replaced these once before following another Trialling accident, but it looks as though there's a fair bit of repair work to do before the next event...
Just wanted to say that although these little Car's continue to delight and amaze with what they'll do, and where they'll go, we should all be aware that once they "run away" backwards, its virtually impossible to stop them sliding, so my recommendation to all the many other Forum user's is.....ENJOY, BUT TAKE CARE!!!
