I really really really dont understand electrics so I need an easy peasy way of doing it.....

I want to add possibly 4 lights

Get the lights fitted where you want them, come to Newark with some wonga to buy the bits & it'll be the workshop session to keep us busy.

That's how mine are wired, except my top & bottom are on separate circuits
