I suspect the subframes off 16VMini won't be of any use as they only make sure the rear mounting are suitable.

skinny4192 you don't say what buggy you have, whether it's a Freestyle, Blitz or another type. I have just bought a Mini subframe complete & have a couple of K-series engines (1.4 8 Valve for sale if you want one) what I intend to do later in the year is make a frame to mount teh subframe in, then start cutting it away until the K-series fits, then weld it back up with bracing in. However it will be a while before I get round to it. There is a lot of information on 16V Mini so it's worth a trawl through, but use the search, don't expect them to give you the answers up front.

What suspension are you using on the rear? Is it the standard Mini or coilovers? The K-series will fit in a standard Mini subframe but there is quite a lot of work. This is a picture of one KERLICK ignore the additional suspension arms that was a leter modification, but shows how the front bar is retained, which is necessary on a Freestyle not sure on a Blitz, this was a GTM.

Just a couple of things to think about, you will need new driveshafts, a combination of A & K series, if the 1.1 is injected you will need a high pressure pump & a return line going back to the tank.

yh its just standerd mini shocks on the back and i should be able to get anything needed cuz my grandads farm is like a junk yard which is were my buggy is so its all gd haha. so u think that the metro engine should blot straight in cuz that would make life a hole lot easyer  :)

It all depends on how much work you waant to do, the easiest option by far is to get a standard Mini engine that will bolt straight in. A 998cc is plenty fast enough around a farm & they normally go quite cheaply, try Fleecbay or better still one of the many Mini Forum sites. However if you do decide to go K-series it is possible but with a lot of work, Along with the points mentioned above you will also have to work out how to operate the clutch, either convert the frame to cable & then try to get a long enough cable or convert the gearbox to hydraulic, my preference but still work. Then the biggest hurdle is to get the gears to actually select as these are rod change but on the wrong side of the engine. You have a lot of work in front of you to get it to work, personaly I would just stick with a cheap Mini engine & get out there & enjoy it, if you go K-series you may still be waiting to drive it this time next year.

I would agree with Alan. If you do not have much money to spend then stick with the A series. It is plenty fast enough to lose your licence. No matter how much work you are able to do you will still need to outsource a lot of safety critical fabrication or buy in specialist parts. Why do you need a modern fuel injected engine anyway? I could understand it if you were using the buggy every day but surely the whole appeal is its quirkiness which comes with the A series and its back to basic motoring.
Just my opinion but it strikes me as a lot of work for a neglible return.
