IVA Immobilisers

Some time over the weekend we were talking about certified immobilisers being a requirement for IVA. This is wrong, so sorry if I have led anybody astray.

You have to have some form of immobiliser fitted for the IVA but it can be either mechanical or electronic Section 13A relates.

If it is mechanical e.g. a Steering Lock then this is sufficient as long as it works obviously. However if you don;t have a mechanical method, then you do have to have an electronic method, you must also present documentary evidence that it has been fitted by a qualified electrician. So it means you can build the whole car, wire everything but the immobiliser LOL.

I bought an electronic one of ebay that came with the certificate, I just needed to find a registered fitter to stamp it.... (I didn't bother as mine was fitted post SVA)
