Securing throttle cable

Evening fellas. I've had my throttle cable in place for a while but I've never been happy with the way it's secured. It's doing the job fine for revving and driving up and down the garage but I'm not sure I would want to use it for anything more adventurous.

If I remember correctly I made it from bike brake cable and it was a bit stiff (required me to fit a return spring to pull it back) Think it was secured to the pedal with 2 little brass coloured screw things and then went through the bulkhead through a little metal tube. The little metal tube was a tight fit but not actually secured with anything.

The way it's set up it is prone to the little tube popping out when you take your foot off the accelerator and one of the brass screws popping off when you put your foot down (meaning the cable goes loose and the pedal drops to the floor)

Anyway, how has everyone else got it set up?
