front and rear wheel arch brackets for a freestyle

Hi All

I am sure this has been mentioned before but I wanted to see if anyone had any photos of the wheel arch brackets both front and rear as that's something mine never came with and I wanted to start looking at fixing points and material for what I would need to make some up.

especially as these seem to be a weak point not on just the freestyle but on 'Caterham' style kits as well!

any help and ideas would be much appreciated as to what the successful options have been for other kits.

Thanks

Ross

Rear ones are easy, just grab some scrap steel or ally and fab them up. Plenty of photos on my build thread. Nothing to complex.

The front Freestyle cycle wing brackets will be a bit more difficult, again plenty of pics on the forum.

I don't think you can compare them to a 7 design as the uprights are different, the Freestyle is mounted on the caliper. May take a bit of trial and error.

Do you have all the GRP bits?

The reason I bought this kit was all the bits were there, probably wouldn't have bought a kit that was missing major parts.i just beefed up what was looking week.

The gear change rod was a load of junk, bended rod and tube linking it together, drilled and bolted, could never get a good quick gear change and you need to as the mini engine is so under powered. I took some measurements and had one bent in a single piece solid bar.

I may still have the drawing somewhere.

I have got the full set of grp arches but not the nose but I have got a plan for that so hopefully that will work out!

I had a look on your build thread and that gave me the idea just to ask the questions to rekindle what had been asked but a while ago

I will have another look through it and see what ideas I can come up with and where the brackets mount and start taking some measurements to get something made up

I can get different materials ( box section, flat, bar, solid rod and some tube) so hopefully I can get the right material to make something suitable

Thanks for all the help!

No problem, all you will ever need materials etc are easily available on eBay.

Get it bought, get it fitted, send us lots of photos (which we really like) and stop asking questions which you already know the answers too 😃

The longer you take to build that buggy the more expensive it will be with the way things are going, but as long as you are having fun.

Definitely need more pictures of your buggy build, that way we can give you more advice.

I will be doing photos over the weekend now I have got the front suspension brackets all made up and one is on just need to mod the through bolt for the shocks.

I just need to make sure I am going in the right direction as I need to really do things first time so just asking as I go along especially as the kit is missing a few bits but nothing major

thanks for all the help so far!
