can anyone tell me if the mini subframe is the same as a rover metro subframe or does anyone have rover metro subframe fitted to there buggy

No the rover subframe is longer and you need to sort out the suspension 'springs' as the mini uses rubber cones while the metro used Hydragas.
Dave Smart owner of the Freestyle, which is a development of the Onyx, is working on it to allow the K series to fit. I think the modifications required would be similar.
