Suitable multi meter?

Bruc3 It will do the job but it's longevity and reliability will definately be questionable in my experience cheap multimeters are a false economy.

Try Maplins they have a slection to suit all budgets and I would definately go up a price band or two not for more features but more for accuracy and reliability/robust build quality £20 is a better starting point but if you want this tool for this job only (doing your loom ) it's worth the punt

Hmmm for the sake of a few extrA quid I may make a trip to Maplins...

Im sure it is something I will be using quite a lot in the future seeing as its my first attempt at car electrics!!

yeah I would spend what you can afford :) If it goes faulty as well that could cause a few problems :)

Maplins do a red multimeter which has dwell angle & rpm on used to be around £20 which is handy with cars with distributors. Quite robust dropped mine a few times
