exhaust

have just tried to fit exhaust as the build manwell instructs. i have cut the LCB monifold down to just above the bend and also cut a small section off the Y piece to improve ground clearance. the problem i have is that the Y piece seem to be very close to the RHS drive shaft pot, it is not touching but i measure the clearance as only 2mm. has anyone else got the exhaust as close? does anyone think i will get problems or damage from the radient heat?

when making brackets to hold the back box, is it ok to just mount then solidly to the subframe or should i use rubber bobbins like on a minbin?

so many questions, for this i am sorry

Mine was the other way, it was catching the subframe, I did in fact use a bit of brute force once bolted to the manifold I made some clearance by bending the pipes with my foot

I have a U clamp just below the Y piece which bolts to the engine, I 'think' it was the original mounting point. Then I have an L shaped bracket coming off the subframe to after the silencr box again to the orginal mounting point, between these I have put a rubber bobbin, my thoughts were that the engine can move a few millimeters so it maybe better to have a little flexibility.

Personally I don't care how many questions you ask that is what the forum is for, I can almost guarentee that if you have thought of a question then somebody on here has as well, & more than likely somebody has a solution. Well actually more than one normally.

I had problems too, but when the engine and gearbox are heald in position with stabilisers all seems to fit with no reall issues.

I hold min with two brackets either side of teh back box, held to the pipe using exhaust clamps and fastened to the back of the subframe using bobins.

Hi,

Would never recommend fixing any exhaust to the body / subframe with a solid mount as there will always be some movement of the engine at some point or other when its under use.

Always use some sort of flexible mount such as the bobbins
