what made me go bigger metal is the picture in crash buggies the white and blue 1 as the frame is completely ripped apart 

hi booger. having bought and resurrected said buggy,i dont think it'd matter what size/guage of bars it was made from when struck by a tractor,which probably weighed at least 10times what the buggy weighed?
mind,in fairness to the construction and welding on the buggy,it was sheared at the point of impact and not at a welded joint.

I'd rather be hit by a tractor in my buggy than other cars, a person who my brother knew crashed head on into a tractor in a ford focus and came out a mess. Buggy is stronger than focus.
